Gas Direct Vent Fireplaces
These units are designed specifically for installing where no fireplace exists. Because of the ingenious venting design they can be placed just about anywhere, even below grade in basements and still be vented to the outside! These units are some of the safest units because they have a sealed combustion chamber with venting to the outside. What makes a direct vent truly unique is that it pulls air from outside in to provide oxygen to the fire. Because of this process they are very efficient and safe to run. If there is any drawback to a direct vent it is that it has a sealed glass front that some people may find unattractive. Most manufacturers and with all the brands DAY or NIGHT carries offer faux doors or screens to go over the front of these units. These faux doors help hide the glass front should you find it unattractive.
 Direct vents come in many, many styles and sizes and one of our most popular units starts at just around $1,500.00, allowing pretty much anyone to afford a new fireplace. Gas Fireplace Inserts
This is a self contained unit that fits inside your existing fireplace. If you do not have a fireplace you may not have an insert but should look at Direct
Vent Fireplaces (See above for information) that are perfect for people who do not have any type of fireplace. Inserts are great when zone heating is needed. Zone heating is when you want to heat just one area of a house or a "zone". Many families spend up to 80% of their time in 2-3 rooms in the house. Why heat the whole house when you can heat the area you spend the most time in? Inserts allow you to turn down the Thermostat for the entire house and heat a specific room or rooms of your choice! Inserts are mini furnaces that can run 24 hours a day if you choose. They can be up to 86% efficient and with the addition of a blower unit that blows super heated air into the room the efficieny can be even higher.
 One of the neatest feature with an insert is that a remote control thermostat can be added and you can set the desired temperature and let the unit turn off and on to maintain that temperature. The remote also features an LCD readout and a timer. You can even attach it to a wall thermostat so it is truly functioning just like your homes furnace. Our inserts will burn when there is a power failure so you are NEVER without heat.
Until recently the biggest down side of an insert was that the fire and viewing area were small. Napoloen solved that problem about 2 years ago with the introduction of the GDI44, it has the largest viewing area of any insert, come to our showroom to view the GDI44 in action!. We are also proud to display Mendota, with an 86% efficiency. Regency offers some of the best values and is also on display! With the addition of a large viewing are there is really no downside to owning an insert. They are beautiful and efficient and can run 24 hours a day and provide tremendous heat or turn it down to enjoy the ambiance of a gentle fire with little heat once the room is to temperature.
Gas Log Sets
 There are 2 basic types of gas logs, Vented and Vent-Free Logs. Both types of logs work with either Natural gas or Liquid Propane (bottled) gas. You need to know which type of gas you have for your log set to function safely and properly. Log sets are sized to fit your fireplace. Please print out the following sheet and get the measurments of your fireplace PRIOR to visiting our showroom. This will prevent guessing at which size you need. DAY or NIGHT is fully licensed to install gas piping and log sets. We use no subcontractors and will mange your project for you from start to finish. We are truly your one stop shop. Not only are we fully licensed to install all types of gas piping, from copper, black steel, Warflex- Flexible Stainless Steel, to High Pressure Natural Gas; but we are also National Fireplace Institute Certified. What this means is we have trained, passed the tests and been certified to install your gas log to the most rigiouous and safest procedures there are. YES-We are certified to play with fire! Gas piping and gas logs are NOT a do it yourself project! Gas leaks can cause explosions and a byproduct of burnt gas is Carbon monoxide, a odorless deadly gas. We can not recommend professional installation enough!
Vent Free Log Sets
This is a log set that goes in your existing fireplace. If you do not have an existing fireplace you can purchase a prefabricated firebox for one to go in. These units are 99% efficient because they do not have to have a damper open that allows heat to escape. They burn with a clean burning blue flame that produces lots of heat. They do have yellow flames at the tips but the base of the flame will burn blue. The biproducts of this type of log set burning are Carbon Monoxide and Water. These units are great if you want a lot of heat for just a few hours a day, your fireplace is not in good working order and can not be properly vented or you want something that is very efficient (up to 99%) to burn.
On the down side vent frees do produce a slight odor when burned. If you or someone in your home is sensitive to odors or suffers from Asthma, Allergies or Emphysema we do not recommened these particular units. Keep in mind that any Vent Free set can be vented to the outside (just crack or open your working damper), thus eliminating the odor it causes, however this also reduces the efficiency. Vented Log Sets
Unlike vent free these units MUST be vented to the outside through a fully working chimney! By law when installed a clamp must be placed on the damper to prevent it from ever closing. These units offer the most realistic flames of any gas log sets. Our showroom features the entire RH Peterson Log line, more than 30 log sets which have consistently been the leaders in the gas industry. For the Last 2 years our showroom was a RH Peterson Top 10 Dealer in the Midatlantic Region! Vented Log sets go in your existing woood burning fireplace. The biggest advatage of Vented Logs is that they look fabulous. The logs are typically hand painted and come in many wood styles and colors, almost an overwhelming choice. Until a few years ago vented log sets did not produce that much heat. Things have changed recently. R.H. Peterson logs can warm a room about 10-15 degrees over a period of about 2 hours. Although not as efficient as a Vent Free Log set they are still at least 30% more efficient than burning wood, without all the dirt and hassle of hauling logs! Gas, Wood or Pellet Stand Alone Stoves
 These are Cast Iron or plate steel stoves that can either be vented straight up (Natural Vent), Direct Vented or Vent Free depending on the fuel burned. They can produce tremendous amounts of heat, are beautiful and take up very little space. Probably the best feature is that they produces as much heat as a fireplace but need as little as 6" off the wall for proper clearance. Stand Alone stoves burn Gas, Pellets, Wood or Corn/Biomass. Hearthstone offers a unique and beautiful product as well manufactured of enameled cast iron and soapstone. Sopastone has been used for 100s of years due to its ability to hold heat at a steady temperature for long periods of time. Napoleon and Vermont Castings also have many styles to choose from!
